these are hand painted limited edition prints pulled from carved linoleum blocks
the linoleum block is inked, dampened printmaking paper is then placed on the block
a protective material is placed over the paper and the entire printed area is carefully rubbed
usually with a smooth rounded object (like a large spoon)
once the ink has been transferred to the paper, the paper is peeled from the block
and allowed to dry.
it may then be painted if desired. i painted these with watercolors.
most of them are from 1997,the first year of the great emancipation
